Every article is designed to make a runner’s next decision clearer. We separate published evidence, brand claims, external testing, and editorial interpretation.

Source standards

Training and recovery pieces prioritize peer-reviewed research, systematic reviews, consensus statements, and recognized sports organizations. Health-adjacent pieces prioritize clinical practice guidelines and public-health or hospital sources. Gear analysis begins with the manufacturer’s current specifications and labels independent tests separately.

Use of AI

AI tools may assist with translation from Chinese source material, structural rewriting, copy editing, link checks, metadata checks, and visual generation. They do not remove editorial responsibility. Claims, citations, units, disclosures, and safety language are reviewed before publication.

Articles are restructured for American readers rather than translated sentence by sentence. Original Chinese source files remain unchanged and are tracked internally through a source ID.

Authorship & editorial governance

Miles Rowan leads editorial reporting and analytical writing for The Steady Split. Articles are developed through systematic review of primary academic sources, official race metrics, and manufacturer data sheets. Content is written to bridge the gap between academic exercise science and practical amateur training.

Medical and injury content

We do not diagnose readers or promise treatment outcomes. Injury-proofing guides include reasons to stop running, red flags, and circumstances that warrant professional care. They are educational and never replace an individual assessment.

Gear evidence labels

Data-Based Buying Analysis uses specifications, independent laboratory data, and clearly attributed external wear tests. Hands-On Review is used only when the author has direct, documented testing experience. At launch, all gear pieces are data-based analyses.

Corrections

Material corrections update the article date and the affected language. If a claim cannot be verified, it is removed. Readers may use the contact page to flag a concern.

Commercial independence & advertising

Editorial conclusions remain strictly independent of commercial relationships. Advertising (including network ads such as Google AdSense) is placed in accordance with standard user-experience practices, and advertisers do not influence our ratings, source selection, or training guidance. Any paid sponsorship or affiliate relationships will always be explicitly disclosed adjacent to the relevant content.
