Zach Panning, Matthew Richtman, Cole Sprout and Felicia Pasadyn have withdrawn from the 2026 Chicago Marathon, the organizer confirmed in its October 5 race-week update. The race takes place Sunday, October 11.

The official media announcement names all four Americans among athletes who had previously been announced for the event. It gives no reasons for their withdrawals. October 5 is the announcement date; the document does not say when each athlete made the decision.

What changed in the U.S. field

Panning, Richtman and Sprout are out of the men’s field; Pasadyn is out of the women’s field. Their status is a confirmed pre-race withdrawal, not a race-day did-not-finish result.

The organizer’s complete professional roster, updated October 5, repeats those withdrawals. Its cumulative withdrawal list also includes Americans Sara Vaughn and Ben Rosa. That broader list does not establish that every withdrawal was newly announced Monday.

Americans still listed for October 11

The revised roster retains Charles Hicks, Clayton Young and Galen Rupp among the U.S. men. Sara Hall, Susanna Sullivan, Des Linden and Natosha Rogers remain in the women’s field, alongside Emma Grace Hurley, whose entry is marked as a marathon debut. These are selected names from the full roster, not an exhaustive U.S. entry list.

American wheelchair entries include Aaron Pike and Daniel Romanchuk in the men’s T53/T54 division and Tatyana McFadden and Jenna Fesemyer in the women’s T53/T54/T34 division.

All of those names represent entries as of October 5. They do not confirm who will start, finish or lead the American results on race day. Young’s continued listing also does not establish a change in the injury status described in our earlier report.

The organizer plans a professional-athlete press conference for Friday, October 9, with Hicks, Young, Sullivan, Hurley, Rogers, Romanchuk and McFadden among the scheduled participants. That is another pre-race schedule, not a guarantee of a Sunday start. Check the official press page for subsequent field revisions and the results released after the race.
